Los Angeles – The City of Angels

This ‘city of angels’ is the eternal showbiz city. Think Hollywood and Disneyland, and what else do you really need for entertainment? LA, as its popularly called, it star struck and celebrity filled as the Hollywood stars wine and dine along with us mere mortals. It’s a city of beautiful people – peroxide blondes and perfect bodies are everywhere, the billboards are snazzy and the light always loud.

So get a tan at the beach, visit the famous Sunset Boulevard, go around the Walt Disney concert Hall, or the best of all – take a tour of the studios. Or wait, we said that too fast – just visit Disneyland!

PLACES to VISIT

• Disneyland: Keep an entire day and only then will you be able to do justice to this wonderland. Rides are varied here, and there are sections too – Fantasyland, Frontierland, Toontown and Tomorrowland. Just throw yourself into Disneyland and enjoy the rush! (Entry charges are 47 dollars for adults and 37 dollars for children.)
• Studio Tour: When in Hollywood, do as they do – and take a studio tour! See sets and shoots and if you’re lucky – some stars! Universal Studio has a one-hour long tram tour. You also get entry to its amusement park open from 9 am to 7 pm in the summer and from 10 am to 6 pm in the winter.
• Nightlife: LA has such a breadth of going out options that choosing where to go can be difficult. From trendy bars to basic pubs , from quaint cafes to high energy discotheques, LA has it all. Aloha Sharkeez, Backstage Cafe, Bar 21, Club 740, Dimples, Dragonfly, Babe’s and Ricky’s Inn, El Carmen, Hank’s Bar and O’Brian’s Pub are some of the numerous options available.

TRAVEL TIPS

• The mention of Los Angeles always brings sun, sand and warm weather to mind. However, the temperatures at the beach always cool down in the late afternoons, and winters can be chilly and rainy so it is a good idea to pack appropriately.
• Here's a tip from the insiders. The 405 freeway is always jammed, be it any time of the day. Avoid taking it at all costs. Buy a map and take an alternative route.
