Singapore- Travel Tips

  • Be prepared for rain during your stay – November and December are usually the coolest, and the wettest, months, but rain can fall all year round. On average, June, July and August record the lowest annual rainfall.
  • The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) maintains five Tourist Information Centres, including one at each arrivals terminals at Changi Airport. The main office is at Tourism Court, 1 Orchard Spring Lane (daily 8am–10pm). The other is at Plaza Singapura Mall, 68 Orchard Road (daily 10am–10pm).
  • However, you will find that bargaining is a way of life throughout Singapore, especially when shopping or renting a room for the night; it's always worth trying to haggle, though note that you don't bargain for meals. Most tourist attractions offer discounted entrance fees for children.
  • All parts of the island are accessible by MRT (the underground rail network) or bus, and fares are reasonable, so that there's little to be gained by renting a car. However you travel, it's best to avoid the rush hour (roughly 8–9.30am and 5–7pm)
