Mahabalipuram beach, considered by many to be one of India’s best beaches, is located 58 kms to the north of Chennai, the state capital of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Mahabalipuram beach is perhaps most known for the many monuments that dot the region surrounding the beach. These monuments have been created when the Pallava Dynasty when it was at its nadir, are considered to be masterpieces of Dravidian architecture. Besides, Mahabalipuram beach is strategically located and is at most a few hours’ drive away from Tamil Nadu’s major tourist attractions. - By Air: Chennai, located 58 kms away, is the nearest airport. Chennai airport is one of India’s most prominent international airports, and as such both international and domestic flight connectivity is very good. Chennai is connected to Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mysore, Cochin and Delhi by daily flights.
- By Rail: The nearest railhead is Chengalpattu, which is located at a distance of 29 kms from Mahabalipuram beach. However, Chennai is deemed more convenient and is generally preferred.
- By Road: The Mahabalipuram beach is well connected to all the important cities and other beach resorts in the region.
